Death Becomes Her

my blackberry is dead. i may or may not have had a part in her death.
it really hurts me + i didn't even have a chance to say goodbye!

currently Napa Valley Bound.
then, Apple Store bound.

Sometimes it's meant to be, and sometimes they knock your fish tank over.

Yesterday I paid a visit to my beautiful friend, Ashley. {besties since preschool}
If you're in the Bay area you should heed my advice and contact Ash for a massage.
She is an excellent massage therapist. Go here to visit her site.
Her brother, Dustin, arriving for the Holiday's.
Check him out in Chicago at The Edge for some stand up.
Loves her kitchen entryway. {i want that clock}
It's no secret that I am a sucker for turquoise and anything related to that color.
It's unhealthy, really.
and...her massive victorian bedroom...

Fooling Nobody, I am.

I died and went to heaven when I walked into Fingerhut Gallery in Sausalito.
Dr. Seuss. Original works. YES...PLEASE...

I like this girl. And I like her style.

Apartment Therapy did a House Tour on Jessica Hische's vintage vibe.

And wouldn't you know, she's an illistrator, designer, and does typographic illistrations to boot.
Click here to see her stuff.
And click here for her blawg.

Some will know. But did they fucking lie?

2012, the movie, hits theaters this Friday. the 13th no doubt.
eh, i don't know. i've seen the trailers and i'm disappointed with the way they have done this movie. {at least from what i have seen}
it's too hollywood. too many close-call sequences.

eh...i mean, i'm still gonna go see it. but will i see it opening night?
{chicanery finger strumming}

do yourself a favor and just click here.
seriously.
go home, crack open my favorite college beer, La Fin du Monde, and take a listen.
see you on the other side my friends.

{i'm not kidding about fin du monde being my favorite college beer of choice. friday nights. boltini lounge. fin du monde. done and done.}

It's finished. But it's never over.

My friend / pesky coworker, has made this nifty coffee table with reclaimed items.
For months he's been blabbing on + on about this project. Sending me up to the minute 'progress' photos.
It just never stopped, people.
I was thrilled when he proclaimed the table was finished + he had all the final photos taken. FINALLY.
Then, just now, he tells me his table has been blogged by Rebuilding Exchange. {sigh}
Here is what they have to say about Mr. B :
Brandon Biederman has created this spectacular table. He took steel angle irons from a scrap yard near his father's house in mid west Wisconsin. He cut the glass from a larger, broken piece that had been previously used as a dinner table and the carpet came from some old carpet samples.

Reblog. Reuse. Reduce. Recycle.

No sweeping exits. No hollywood endings.

Currently Spinning:

These guys seriously make me happy when skies are grey (which, of course it is here in Chicago). And I hope they notice how much I love them.

My dearest + awesomely rad friend, Shaun, works for them, and so, I have had the privilege of seeing them on more then one occasion.

And then there was that one time that we partied like rock stars at Debonair/Hard Rock Hotel for James' birthday. {still.piecing.the.details.together.}

check them out. seriously.

Shut the door. Have a seat.

{don+betty}

Last night's Mad Men finale party was as successful as the Episode itself!!
Thanks Betty for the fantastic spread!
The Beef Wellington was delish!
And I got my fill of deviled eggs and very dirty martinis to last me a while.
Or, until tomorrow.

I was thrilled to see a post today at Apartment Therapy on home bars.

I own a mid century rolling bar (of course), however, it's currently being used as a little rolling office with a macbook pro, a canon T1 rebel and a bunch of external hard drives on it, whilst my roommate takes time elapse photos. So, no 'bar' pictures, as it's not looking that glamorous. {although, i guess its current sexiness is dependent on how you look at the situation. but for all intended purposes of this here post, it's not so glamorous.}

CB2's Acadia Mini Bar is still my current favorite bar on the market. Me likes. Me wants to buy.

Quadracci. Calatrava. Diana F. Milwaukee.

sweet and sassy

me thinks me likes.
mmm. yes.

You want to be taken seriously? Stop dressing like a little girl.

Oh gosh, how do I begin....
This Sunday, Mad Men Season 3 comes to an end, and while I am having serious issues with excepting that fact, I am peeing my pants in anticipation.
My dearest Madelyn + Husband are throwing a MM season finale costume party.
Bring on the martini's and deviled eggs!
I'm going as Joan 2.0
I'm gonna try and give her something to be jealous about!
Here's my guide to becoming Joan:
1. if you're not naturally endowed, well, stuff, stuff, stuff
2. Curves are key, so if you're not curvy, think Betty, not Joan. Play up your silhouette.
3. The pencil skirt. A shift dress will work, but a wool/tweed pencil skirt+blouse will play up curves.

{bluefly, j.crew}

4. Think RED! Soft red lips, red nail polish and of course a red blouse.
Always tuck your blouse into your skirt.

{anthropologie}
5. Accessorize! Joan loves gold {who doesn't}. A broach, + long pendant necklace will do the trick.

{Joan's signature Secretary's Pencil}

{etsy, j.crew}

6. The hair...go here to see a tutorial

Have fun + enjoy!!
