Prop Fashion

{daydreams+memories : photo taken with my lomography camera 7/07}

This weekend I am heading up to Oshkosh for the EAA Convention. It's the World's Largest Fly-in and Aviation Celebration. (note: I refuse to call it 'AirVenture')

I have been every year of my life. Every single year. My parents have been volunteering for 28 years and my mom is now Vice Chairman of VAA (Vintage Aircraft Association) Membership. They are part of the team that spends 2 months before the convention setting up the massive EAA grounds in preperation for millions of avaition enthusiasts. My dad built, with his bare hands, one of the very first Kitfox planes in the late 80's and was instrumental in advancing further models with his modifications (we also own a Cessna 182.) This year my one month old niece will be there as we will be passing the tradition torch to this newly minted generation. She is even going to be baptised on the convention grounds Saturday morning. So yeah, its kind of a big deal.

You can watch a video that explains the passion and madness here. (im not going to lie, i tear up everytime i watch this {sigh})

I was thrilled to see that The Huffington Post was doing a spread on Amelia Earhart today. If you didn't know, she was the first celebrity designer and the one that made pants acceptable/fashionable for women. Read the article here.
