Bob Green wrote, "If all of life were summer – if all of our experiences were wonderful experiences – then the world would have no texture, no context. Summer – the possibility of summer, summer as we first new it – is what it is precisely because we are aware its duration is not limitless. It would not taste the way it does if we thought it would last forever. We love it – or at least we once loved it – because we know, even as it is beginning, that it will soon enough be gone."

Enjoy the beautiful weekend ahead!

LC's is sure to be full of BBQ's, street festivals, street art scavanging, sunshine, happiness, friends, and lovers.

ENJOY!

Addict: obsession, compulsion, or excessive psychological dependence

Oh man.
Tracy over at I Appreciate That just posted these inspiration boards.
Man, oh man. I need a teal wall now.
What is wrong with me? I love this color so much it's unhealthy.
My obsession is so bad I argued with my bestie about how I loved it more than her (huh?) and my brand spanking new roommate (of 2 days) came home with a teal rug for her room ("because you are already rubbing off on me," she says).
I.NEED.HELP.
Please read Tracy's post as she is a little more intellectually sane about the color.

On the nineth day of Christmas my true love sent to me...

Will someone order me this dress, stat!?
I'm dying without it.
Coco+Kelley lost their mind over this Carolina Herrera pre-fall collection,
and I think I am too.

Why, yes. Yes, I would love this. Thank you very much! You are the BEST!

Check these and more out at Coco+Kelley.

Some will know. But did they fucking lie?

2012, the movie, hits theaters this Friday. the 13th no doubt.
eh, i don't know. i've seen the trailers and i'm disappointed with the way they have done this movie. {at least from what i have seen}
it's too hollywood. too many close-call sequences.

eh...i mean, i'm still gonna go see it. but will i see it opening night?
{chicanery finger strumming}

do yourself a favor and just click here.
seriously.
go home, crack open my favorite college beer, La Fin du Monde, and take a listen.
see you on the other side my friends.

{i'm not kidding about fin du monde being my favorite college beer of choice. friday nights. boltini lounge. fin du monde. done and done.}

No sweeping exits. No hollywood endings.

These guys seriously make me happy when skies are grey (which, of course it is here in Chicago). And I hope they notice how much I love them.

My dearest + awesomely rad friend, Shaun, works for them, and so, I have had the privilege of seeing them on more then one occasion.

And then there was that one time that we partied like rock stars at Debonair/Hard Rock Hotel for James' birthday. {still.piecing.the.details.together.}

check them out. seriously.

And.....we're back!

Gossip Girl premiered last night, and I couldn't be happier!!

Oh, Blaire, how I love thee...let me count the ways...
{via InStyle}

I bought a Blaire Waldorf headband and wore it to work.
People snickered, but I don't care.
You know you love me.

summer picnics + music = happy time

I am so excited that summer is on its way. That means one thing....outdoor concerts at Ravinia and Millennium Park. Ravinia is like a dream to me. It's such a beautiful place to escape the city for an evening. Hopping the metra up to Ravinia is a cinch. And what is even easier is walking a few short blocks from my office to the Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park, for a night of free music and fun.

Oh! I am so excited that I have already started planning my menu for my first concert at Ravinia.

I'm thinking the following:
Salmon Pate on Melba toast
Caprese
A little Brie with a baguette
Hot and Spicy Shrimp and Avocado Salad
Lemon poppy seed Cake or Apricot Bread
Perhaps a Rose or Sauvignon Blanc

what a girl wants...what a girl needs

At this very moment I want 3 things.
  1. A full day at the Spa
  2. Followed by a private fitting with Georgina Chapman + Keren Craig of Marchesa.
  3. And then I'm off on my private (jet) headed for Saint Tropez.

A girl can dream, can't she? {sigh}

Family Style

In college all of my friends would gather at Efrain's house every Sunday for a Family Style dinner. It was a highlight of my week and a great way to unwind, listen to music, and share stories of dear friends.
Well, that said friend, my dearest Efrain, is all grown up. He now runs an underground community supper club called Clandestino. He was recently ranked Top 10 best secret supper clubs in the world by Travel+Leisure.
You can find his link on the right hand margin under Small World Enterprises.

Clandestino has a sold out dinner this weekend, and, thinking about it made me long for the simpler days of heading over to E's house for a little grub and good company. I miss the family dinners, the potlucks my college roommate and I would regularly have and the general camaraderie of dining together.

In this economy, I'm not alone in putting restaurants aside for a moment
and remembering what it is like to have dinner at home.
So, I here by vow
To have more potlucks in my life
To have more fine company over to my house
To enjoy the fruits of community dining

Oh, give us pleasure...

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day; And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.
Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.
And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.
For this is love and nothing else is love, The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfil.
-Robert Frost

My BF bought me some beautiful purple, planted lilies this weekend. I love them!

To My Dearest Friends:

Here's to friends that stick by you no matter what. Who hold your hand when you need to be led through the fog. Who, despite what their own personal opinions are, love you no matter what and will stand by your side.

Here's goodbye to those who leave you alone in the darkness. Who choose their own opinions over a friendship's agenda. Who loose track of what true friendship means and what forgiveness can give.

Baby's First Blog

What of this world but joys+sorrow. - Greg Evans

Welcome to Loose Change. This is a personal blog for me to organize my thoughts, archive things of interest and track DIY projects. If you know anything about me, you'll know I am addicted to blogs. One day recently while trolling around the web I ran across my beautiful friend Caitlin's blog, Sous De Charme. She's inspired me to start this 'scrapbook' or personal 'book of reference'. I see so many amazing things each day that I want to remember and now here is my chance to document those findings.
