Next up: Post27

i'm in love.

Next week I am heading to this amazing shop, located at 1819 W. Grand Ave, for a shopping spree. If you get a chance this weekend, stop by for Ottomania . It ends Sunday.

It's Official

This weekend officially marks the unofficial start of summer.
Yippee!
I'm off to go camping and I couldn't be happier. It's suppose to be beautiful out.
Enjoy your weekend and don't forget to remember those who died in military service.

summer picnics + music = happy time

I am so excited that summer is on its way. That means one thing....outdoor concerts at Ravinia and Millennium Park. Ravinia is like a dream to me. It's such a beautiful place to escape the city for an evening. Hopping the metra up to Ravinia is a cinch. And what is even easier is walking a few short blocks from my office to the Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park, for a night of free music and fun.

Oh! I am so excited that I have already started planning my menu for my first concert at Ravinia.

I'm thinking the following:
Salmon Pate on Melba toast
Caprese
A little Brie with a baguette
Hot and Spicy Shrimp and Avocado Salad
Lemon poppy seed Cake or Apricot Bread
Perhaps a Rose or Sauvignon Blanc

Romp

I'm buying a romper and there is nothing you can do to stop me.
  1. Urban Outfitters
  2. ;( I forgot
  3. Free People
  4. ModCloth
  5. Victoria's Secret
  6. Delias
  7. We the Free

Sartorial Green

Friday night I went to my friend, Nathan's, debut runway show. I must say I very much enjoyed seeing his line on the models. I have to get my man in those swim trunks. Check out his site, Sartorial Green, here. Below are photos from Friday's show.

Bringing The Outdoors Inside

I've been a little slow on posts lately and for that I apologize. But today I have something to post that I am so excited about. I have fallen madly in love with Camilla Meijer. Her collection of prints including lampshades, pillows and wallpaper make me swoon. And I love her approach to design. She's currently at the ICFF, International Contemporary Furniture Fair through tomorrow. So if you are in New York, check her out.
"I love nature and I am astounded by the way plants and flowers find a way to flourish in such an enormous urban setting like London...I capture these images I see around me and use them to create my work...I want to welcome people into a world of colour and visual texture that caresses the eye and speaks to the heart."

what a girl wants...what a girl needs

At this very moment I want 3 things.
  1. A full day at the Spa
  2. Followed by a private fitting with Georgina Chapman + Keren Craig of Marchesa.
  3. And then I'm off on my private (jet) headed for Saint Tropez.

A girl can dream, can't she? {sigh}

Dwelling Do #1: Part 2

So, I'm still searching for the right bedspread. ..Still.. If you remember from the original Dwelling Do #1, I'm looking for a pop of yellow in my bedroom to contrast with the dark grey walls.
With that said, I was at Target today and noticed that DwellStudio (!!) has a
line there. I found exactly what I was looking for! That is, only to find that it is nothing more than an accent pillow to go with the Baroque bedding. Arg.
Well, I bought the pillow and now I need a duvet.  Still searching......Thoughts?
Target has a gray silken cover but I have cats who sleep with me. No dice.
Comments + Suggestions welcome.

It's Odd Day, y'all

What is Odd Day you say? Its TODAY! 05/07/09.
It is only one of six dates this century that will feature all odd numbers.
Mathematicians Rejoice!
Other things I find odd:
That the rest of the world doesn't find John Mayer as annoying as I do.
That I am Blogging here and not on an isle of Greece.
That I can't eat Piece Pizza all day, every day and have Heidi Klum's body.
That there are still people out there that truly believe Obama is not a U.S. citizen.

One side will make you grow taller....

I was over at A Mad Tea Party With Alis and realized two things:
1. That I need to make a moss terrarium, stat. And,
2. How wonderfully whimsical mushrooms are.
There is something woolgathering and fanciful about mushrooms (and not just when you are eating them. hey now.). They remind me of being a kid. Of hunting for mushrooms in our back woods. Of Alice in Wonderland.

I decided to go to the one place that carries all things crafty to see what I could find. Here are a few of the many items on Etsy.

Now I am off to watch Alice in Wonderland. I need to gear up because I am so excited about Tim Burton's upcoming adaptation. I can't hardly wait. And the best part is, I won't be terrified of the movie like I was as a child....or will I be?

Mexican St. Pattie's Day

I hope you enjoyed Cinco de Mayo.

I had my obligatory margarita, fish taco's, and free shots of tequila at my favorite neighborhood Mexican joint, El Cid.

It's the Mexican St. Pattie's Day, no? Think about it.

I went big...

1. Had a RockBand Party Friday night and got way too trashed.
2. Hungover, went to Apple Store and decided to purchase a Macbook Pro.
3. Watched the Bulls crumble under the Celtics in Game 7 but I was blogging on my new mac, so that eased the pain a bit!
4. Went to a rockin' rooftop BBQ on Sunday and got trashed again.

Good weekend.

the fabric of our lives

It is finally suppose to be nice this weekend and I once again hope to *actually* complete some projects. I really need to sand down and paint my new underthings dresser. I'm so antsy to get it into the room.

I also have an ottoman that needs reupholstered. I haven't been able to find the right fabric, but today on Apartment Therapy they had a post about this great little place called Mod Green Pod. I think I am going to have to pick up some fabric. The best part, they are 100% organic cotton home textiles.

'In matters of style, swim with the current'
