They stretched and they stretched and they pulled and they yanked.

Everybody loves a baby elephant!
The Melbourne Zoo just welcomed its first ever baby elephant.
Click here to see the cuteness.
When I was in grade school I had to make a movie about how elephants got such long ears.
{this was before macbooks + movie making was easy}
We had this special projector film that you drew on with special crayons. Then we had to make a recording of the story + soundtrack on a cassette tape. My movie was awesome! And I got the best grade in the class!! You see, the reason why elephants have such big ears is because this outcast kid elephant ran away and these birds came and taunted him. They pulled and stretched his little ears until they were big and floppy. The story goes on but I can't tell you all of it before I submit it to The Academy {it's that good}.
I enlisted my brothers for voice overs and sound effects. Man, I need to see if my mom still has that. Let's hope it wasn't destroyed in the 'Great Basement Flooding of '09.' That would be tragic.
Anyway, below are some Etsy finds.

I always seem to miss screenings at the Gene Siskel Film Center that I am interested in seeing.
(re: Floored) Recently GSFC screened American Artifact (again, missing it). It's a film that chronicles the rise of gig posters since the 1960's and features Chicago's very own Mat Daly whom I have been a fan of for years.

Check the screening times for a chance to see it in your city.

bambi's dead?

As of late, I have been talking a lot with some gal pals regarding street artists and art.
Today in the NYT Style section, street artist, Stefan Strumbel, was featured in his home in Offenburg, Germany. See the gallery of his home here.
Stefan is known for graffiti and now makes sculptured art out of cuckoo clocks.

The rapture is nearing....

I am so pissed right now.
It's suppose to snow 14 inches.
And my russian snow boots have a hole in them.
I hate snow.
I'm moving to California.

Love is a snowmobile racing across the tundra and then suddenly it flips over, pinning you underneath. At night, the ice weasels come.

WOW. i found this wonderful site full of vintage valentines.
Let me tell you what, kids, our grandparents were fucking nuts back in the day.
i seriously don't know what to say about these.
i'll leave the interpretations up to you.

seriously....what the fuck?

I heart tights.
And I'm feeling like buying some today.
Who sells the best tights?

When love is not madness, it is not love.

What are you doing for Valentines Day?
If you don't have plans or can't decide what to do, let me decide for you.

Clandestino Supper Club, run by my great friend, Efrain Cuevas,
is having V Day dinners February 11-14.
The menu looks amazing!

The boy + I are staying in and having a seafood feast. I can't wait.
Crab legs galore, and I am making a key lime pie, for funsy.
I'll be the only one eating the pie, however, because the mister doesn't like sweets.
The thought of this makes me want to shout, 'well I don't like you!'
Too harsh?
