ooh baby, do you know what that's worth?

I love this idea.
Ryan over at Pacing the Panic Room has chronicled his beautiful wife's pregnancy.
He has done it in such a wonderful way.
Check out his blog here.

A couple weekends ago I attended my sister-in-law's baby shower. Her bestie made the place look great, but of course I wasn't a fan of the color scheme... pink.
I love this baby shower that Kim over at Head of the Table created for her friend.
You will remember from the Dwelling Do #1 post that I love these colors.

How do I put this kindly....

I just received an email from my lovemate. He is obsessed with FreeDarko Imperials Limited Edition Prints. He wants them in his home.
While I appreciate his choice of limited edition art prints over typical sports posters, I have to say no, nope, no way, to this one.

I believe this is why man invented the garage, or, say, the basement.

comments+concerns welcome.
(P.S. Bethlehem Shoals, you are a genius and I am not worthy. I mean no disrespect)

E.T. says ouch

My friend, Ms. Becky, talked me into going to Exhale. It's this fancy schmancy mind body spa.
I took a Core Fusion class last night. It's a combination of Pilates, Lotte Berk Method and Yoga. Exhale claims to 'give you washboard abs, a tighter and higher backside, and a perfectly toned body.' By god they better be right.
I highly recommend taking a Core Fusion class if you are the type of person who loves getting your ass handed to you. Apparently, I do. I signed up for a month of 'Zen' whatever the hell that means.
I'm not sure what is worse, having your ass handed to you or the feeling of inadequacy for not having the proper 'tools'. Of course everyone there was wearing Lululemon. I mean come on, why would you wear anything other than that? My addidas was not cutting it. Between winces, I whispered over to Ms. Becky asking why everyone was wearing special Exhale socks (thank god she brought me some to wear!). Turning to me between poses she said, 'i have no idea! but after my first class i felt like i had to buy them. everyone has them on!'
Damn it! Now I have to buy some too. wtf? (wait, can i cus on my own blog? i think i can) what.the.fuck!
What is it about spas and mind body studios that make women a little nervous and insecure? The gym doesn't do that to me, so why at these peaceful Zen places?

blink and you might miss it

I took some photos with my blackberry on the way to work this morning.
We are almost into my absolute favorite time of year. It's only a few days long and if you blink you might miss it. It is when everything comes into sync and all the greens and plants and flowers begin to bloom at the same time. The green is so intense and so beautiful, I think it is the most breathtaking thing I see all year.

As trees break winter dormancy and their buds develop into various leaves, twigs, and flowers, they change colors in varying combinations and intensities before it resumes full physiological function and settles in to your basic early summer green.
I love it.
So, open your eyes and see the world bloom.

instant gratification - UPDATE

I heart Polaroids. I just ordered a bunch of film online.
If you are equally upset about the discontinue of Polaroid film as I am, you can go here and commiserate with like minded people.
But there is some good news.
The Impossible Project will be producing integral film that can be used in your vintage Polaroid cameras.
UPDATE : HERE IS A GREAT ARTICLE FROM THE NY TIMES
I used to have a Spectra until my car was broken into.
Now I just use a 600 and I don't like it as much.

I drug my Polaroid Spectra camera all the way to China with me.

This is the Forbidden City. Photo taken by my BF, and therefore not of good quality. (sorry darling but you are a terrible picture-taker.)

Then I had this great idea to lug it all the way up a mountain while climbing the great wall. What is wrong with me?
Especially since the picture did not turn out so well.

I also love the i-zone. Santa gave this camera to me about 8 or 9 years ago. In college I would take a picture of everyone that came to my apartment, then post them on the wall in a collage.

Now I use it to take pictures of my cat (I know, I have issues) I have a collection on my fridge and one of those red-squared 'Today I Feel' magnets. I use my cat as the mood indicator. I haven't successfully captured Fin drunk yet, but one of these days...

The largest trash dump is not on land but in the Ocean.

I'm going to once again link you to the Environmental Defense Fund were you can print out a pocket size seafood selector.
It is imperative that you are choosing the correct fish, not only for the environment but for your health as well. I print out and carry several seafood selectors b/c I am always giving them away to friends, family, and strangers.

Planet Earth, you so crazy

If you haven't heard, Earth Day is today.
Last night I was watching the Weather Channel to find out what the crazy weather of Chicago would bring me. All of a sudden they go into a "Green" segment and the woman started talking about how you should turn off the water when brushing your teeth, or not use plastic bags at the store. No shit.
Listen people, if you are not doing those things already, you suck.
If you are not already recycling or trying to reduce your impact on society you suck, big time.
So with that said, I'm not going to go into a big thing about Earth Day, I'm just going to show you some of my favorite Eco-friendly clothing and shops.
My dear friends over at Verdessence are having a E-Day Sale!
Use Code 'earth' to receive 25% off.
Here are some of my must haves:

Josh Jakus Um Tote
Ainsley Vneck
This sweatshirt is screaming my name

Turquoise

If you have spent any time with me or stepped foot into my home, you know that I love the color turquoise. I have to stop myself from buying too much of it.
House pics to follow. But first, here are a few of my favorite things:

Strength, protection from harm, psychic sensitivity and connection to the spirit world.
Turquoise is one of the oldest protection amulets, and was also known as a symbol of wealth in many ancient cultures.
If given a turquoise by a loving friend, that stone would protect the wearer from negative energy and bring good fortune. The turquoise is the symbol of friendship. It also brings peace to the home.
This stone is a very personal and meaningful stone to one who wears it. Turquoise takes on the characteristics of the owner.
Turquoise carries great wisdom of basic truth within it. It is one of the oldest stones known. This is a stone that a person must learn to attune to instead of the stone attuning to the person. It is important that the owner of a Turquoise give it the proper attention.
